Cooked to perfection

The Bull Hotel in Wrotham feels very cosy on entering
and the original oak beams and an inglenook fireplace add to the atmosphere. We were greeted and shown to our table
by very friendly and attentive staff, all of whom had an exact knowledge of both the menu and wine list and are a great asset
to the establishment. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and I enjoyed the pleasant music playing in
the background.
For my starter I chose the garlic tiger prawns (£6.50) that were very well presented, and this was accompanied
by Martin’s suggested 2006 delicate crisp and aromatic dry white wine. This provided a perfect start for my meal.
The main course was smoked haddock poached in cream, accompanied by spinach mash with poached egg (£14). It was
delicious and cooked to perfection.
My
guest Paul (my husband!) enjoyed his starter which was the oaked smoked trout, accompanied with horseradish crème fraiche,
salad and bread (£5.50). For his main course he chose Hartley Bottom fillet with chive & black peppercorn
butter, herb salad and hand cut chips (£24). To accompany this choice, Martin suggested the French 2001 Opulens
Red. To finish the meal we enjoyed two of Martin & Lygia’s popular desserts very much. The Moist Orange
cake with citrus crème fraiche and the strawberry and balsamic vinegar sorbet were both delicious. Thee cheese
board could not be missed though, with a wonderful range of both local and French produce.
I highly recommend The Bull, as I was delighted with all aspects including location, service
and quality of food. It certainly combines great taste with fantastic value for money. Definitely not to be missed!
