In-house bistro cooking
Meal of the week
Built
in 1385 and first licensed under the reign of Henry VII, it is fair to say The Bull Hotel has a well-established history of
entertaining the people of Wrotham.
Now
under the ownership of Martin Deadman and Lygia Fontanella, The Bull’s reputation for good food and drink had grown
stronger, drawing a regular crowd of diners from the village and surrounding areas.
Wooden
beams and fireplaces are in keeping with the traditional atmosphere of the inn, while the Buttery – a function room
situated on the side of the hotel – was originally the village bakery.
But
the restaurant and pub is moving with the times too; The Bull Hotel offers proper bistro cooking as it should be done, with
all food made in-house, using the best quality produce and, wherever possible, local ingredients.
Besides
the traditional English meals like gammon, egg and chips; steak and ale pie; haddock and chips, the menu includes Mediterranean
dishes and delicacies like fresh mussels and hare.
So
whether you want a light lunchtime snack or a quality evening meal, The Bull Hotel is the place to go. Owner Mr Deadman said: ‘Sometimes people think
the place is a bit fancy, but people can come in for a sandwich and a coffee. We’ve got the pub element
but if you want it you can have all the service, too’.
Mains
include such dishes as herb-stuffed line-caught sea bass with chargrilled fennel and a potato dauphinoise; or a lightly prepared
Hartley Bottom sirloin steak with Stilton salad and had-cut chips.
A new selection of Sunday roast dinners and fish dishes have also prove popular, while diners can enjoy jazz with
fresh paella every last Wednesday of the month.
