Hidden behind the 14th-century Bull Hotel, The Buttery & Glasshouse is totally unexpected, causing that spontaneous first reaction: “Wow!”

On one side couples can delight in the historic barn-style Buttery which offers the most intimate ceremony space full of character, gorgeous light, beamed ceilings, and an ancient stone wall.

While opposite, the newly built, ultra contemporary Glasshouse, with art gallery vibe, wraparound glass doors that open up onto the alfresco terrace and spectacular retractable roof, is a modern space flooded with natural light.

Merging contemporary and traditional, wedding days flow seamlessly from one stage to the next

“The best part about getting married at The Buttery & Glasshouse is the fact that everything will be under one roof”

Weddings at The Bull

Couples have been choosing The Bull for their weddings over several decades. Recently a couple told us that they got married at The Bull 24 years ago, and another client recounts that her parents had their wedding reception at The Bull 36 ago!

Even before receiving our first license to hold civil ceremonies in 2015, Martin himself organised wedding breakfasts and receptions in the restaurant as The Buttery function room hadn’t been redecorated to accommodate wedding receptions.

Our journey since then has been a wonderful one. Hosting weddings is a special and joyous occasion, and it has been source of great satisfaction for all of us.

The renovation in 2022

The whole courtyard was renovated to create an innovative and unique wedding venue, a hidden surprise you wouldn’t expect behind the splendid 14th century Grade II-listed Bull Hotel.

Merging the new contemporary Glasshouse, the traditional Buttery and the picturesque Veranda transformed the whole wedding experience at The Bull courtyard.

This gorgeous courtyard offers a variety of blank canvas spaces and an abundance of natural light where couples can showcase the elegance and the freshness of something new and unique to achieve their wow factor wedding day when the wedding theme will take centre stage.

Timeless Appeal

Initially our wedding venue was The Buttery, first licensed in 2015. Originally, the 16th century oak-beamed barn was used as a large pantry to stock food, butts of beer and wine for the hotel.

The Buttery has its own charm which effortlessly delights every couple. With a captivating barn-style feel and historic appeal and has been holding memorable wedding ceremonies

Tour the venue

Throughout the year we host open days when the whole venue is set up for a wedding, with recommended suppliers and our full team available to take couples through a tour of the venue.

You are most welcome to arrange a viewing with the coordinators at any time to discuss your ideas and plans for your big day.
